With some sadness, I verify that I am leaving Main Street Medical Centre on Friday 30 June. It has been almost 9 years at this Clinic; 9 years would have been 27th July this year.

I have been privileged to work with such a great team of Clinicians, who have supported me through my development as a Practitioner; as a Registrar and then as a Fellow. The Staff and Nursing Staff have also been incredibly caring, reliable and competent team to work with. It has been a wonderful experience working with such good people.

My patients on the whole have cared about me as much as I have cared for them. I will miss this.

My whole experience in Murwillumbah has been quite different from previous experience, and it sets a new standard for me to seek in my future life.

As for that future experience…. well, its going to be an adventure! Steve will be back out working with large herds of livestock and I will get to have more time playing the Mum role in my family. For all of us, as it says in Dr Seuss’s book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”:

“Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”

Just keep taking the “bang ups” in stride, they are temporary. Try not to get stuck in “the Waiting Place”, try not to be scared (“when you’re alone, there’s a very good change you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants”).
